Protection of Human Subjects in Research tutorial - 12/07
The primary objectives of this course are to increase knowledge among investigators and key personnel regarding research ethics and to protect human subjects involved in research studies at Indiana University and Clarian Health Partners.

Protection of Human Subjects in Non-Biomedical Research
This tutorial is adapted from “Protection of Human Subjects in Research” by Shelley Bizila, Director of Research
Compliance, Research and Sponsored Programs, Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis (2000). This
version was prepared by Kenneth D. Pimple, Ph.D., in consultation with the Human Subjects Protection Education
Committee of Indiana University. Care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the information herein, but it should
be noted that this tutorial is not a policy statement.

Principal Investigators must complete Investigator 101. This test is required to ensure that the Principal Investigators are adequately trained. There are self-paced tutorials designed to meet the Federal Requirement that researchers using human subjects demonstrate the completion of education in the protection of human research participants. This test and the study materials will be e-mailed to you after your submission. Additionally, principal investigators will need to meet the Investigator Requirements.
