June 9, 2008 - The pre-award and post-award offices are being combined to bring you "cradle-to-grave" grants administration. When fully implemented, you should be able to submit your proposal to the Office of Research Administration (ORA) and have one individual from ORA work with you from proposal submission to award negotiations to account creation and management.
This involves reconfiguring the former Contracts & Grants office into two groups. The first group will combine with the former Sponsored Research Services offices in Indianapolis and Bloomington to provide "Grant Services" (the proposals, awards, and accounts). The second group will be responsible for financial reports, invoices, and payments university-wide. A third group will manage additional university-wide activities such as the annual A-133 audit and A-21 Effort Reporting. The chart below outlines the new organizational structure.
As of June 9, we will begin implementing these teams on the Bloomington campus for new proposals and awards. Existing accounts will remain with their current C&G Administrators for the short run.
By early July, the Indianapolis office will implement these teams for new proposals and awards. In addition, a portion of the existing Indianapolis accounts will be transferred from Bloomington to ORA staff in Indianapolis, with the goal of all Indianapolis accounts being transferred to Indianapolis ORA Staff by September 30, 2008.
By September 30, the Bloomington ORA staff will also be redistributing existing accounts to the appropriate Grant Services teams according to the new team structure.
As a result of this reorganization, your existing grant account may be reassigned to someone else in the ORA office. In order to allow you to easily identify the current ORA staff member assigned to your account, use the Project Director Reports or check the account inquiry screen in FIS. Please watch this space for more details as the reorganization progresses.
