Feedback and suggestions regarding the new IRB - Human Subjects submission, review, and approval process are encouraged.
September 9, 2008 -The IUB IRB and the IU Office for Human Research Protection Programs (OHRPP) announced that it would like feedback and suggestions regarding the new process for submission, review, and approval of research involving human subjects at IUB. They are soliciting feedback during this semester (Fall 2008). The goal is to further modify the process to better reflect the nature of the research done at IU-Bloomington and the needs of researchers, while maintaining compliance with the federal regulations and University policies.
Feedback can cover all aspects of the process. Specific feedback about the structure and content of the IRB submission forms is especially welcomed. The announcement indicated that feedback and suggestions be organized in the following manner:
For each issue, the following should be outlined:
- the nature of the problem, issue, or complaint.
- concrete suggestion(s) for specific change(s).
Feedback can be submitted via email to IRBFDBCK@indiana.edu.
The IUB IRB and IU OHRPP will begin compiling responses during October and November. In late November, they will confer with a small group of experienced senior IUB researchers and the IU OHRPP to formulate modifications to the process that will retain complete regulatory compliance. It is anticipated that the modifications will be implemented early in the new year. Details of modifications will be posted on the web. Additionally, a document outlining the nature of the feedback, the response of the IU OHRPP, and the rationale for the OHRPP’s response will be made available.
