The timeline for Indiana University’s implementation of two Kuali Foundation web-based, open source products, the Kuali Financial System (KFS) and Kuali Coeus Research Administration System (KC) has been finalized.

Sponsored by IU’s Office of Research Administration, Kuali Coeus will be implemented in 2 phases. In Phase 1, July 2011, users will build simple or complex proposals for individual or aggregate submissions, create budgets, and will be able to submit proposals for both Grants.gov and non-Grants.gov (replacing Electronic Research Administration - ERA). Phase 2, to be released February 2012, provides the ability to create awards, award terms and conditions, and to manage complex multi-account awards, automatically linking proposals to awards (replacing FIS Proposal and Awards).

The implementation of KFS, sponsored by IU’s Financial Management Services, Purchasing, and University Budget offices, will follow in December, 2012, encompassing all financial and purchasing components currently in the Financial Information System (FIS) and the Electronic Procurement and Invoicing Center (EPIC).

In December, 2012, in coordination with the KFS release, Kuali Coeus will also be providing a release to integrate financial and research admin components. A website has been created that contains full information about IU’s Kuali implementations: www.kuali.iu.edu. This site will be updated on a regular basis and will have the most current information about Kuali at Indiana University.

The Kuali Foundation is collaboration of efforts by Indiana University and other partner institutions of higher education including Colorado State University, Cornell University, Michigan State University, the University of Arizona, the University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, Berkeley, among others.
