The Clinical Trial Agreement is an agreement between the sponsor and the university to define the scope of work required by the clinical trial protocol. The CTA may have other names, such as, letter of agreement, clinical research agreement, statement of work, etc. Clinical Trials Services negotiates the CTA with the sponsor. The CTA must be signed by the PI for acceptance and final signature must be by the designated institution official, as the final agreement is between the university and the sponsor.
